What the TikTok integration enables

With TikTok connected, you can:

  • Discover creators -- search for TikTok creators by niche, audience size, engagement rate, and content themes through Stormy's Creator Discovery
  • Track post performance -- monitor views, likes, comments, shares, and saves on creator posts linked to your campaigns
  • Pull creator analytics -- follower counts, average views, posting frequency, and content categories
  • Compare cross-platform performance -- see how the same creator performs on TikTok vs. Instagram or YouTube

Connecting TikTok

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > TikTok
  2. Click Connect TikTok
  3. You will be redirected to TikTok's authorization page
  4. Log in and authorize Stormy to access creator and content data
  5. Return to Stormy
Note

The TikTok integration for creator tracking is separate from TikTok Ads. If you also want to run paid campaigns on TikTok, see the TikTok Ads integration in the Ads Management section.

Creator discovery on TikTok

When you run a creator search in Stormy's Creator Discovery with TikTok included as a platform, the integration pulls results from TikTok's creator database. The AI matches your search query against creator profiles, content themes, and audience data to find relevant matches.

What makes TikTok discovery different

TikTok's content ecosystem moves faster than other platforms. Creators can go from zero to millions of views on a single video. This means:

  • Engagement rates are higher -- 3-8% is common on TikTok, compared to 1-3% on Instagram
  • Follower count matters less -- a creator with 20k followers can get 2 million views on a single video thanks to TikTok's algorithm
  • Content recency matters more -- a creator who was active 3 months ago may not be relevant today

Stormy accounts for these TikTok-specific dynamics when scoring and ranking creators in search results.

Tip

When searching for TikTok creators, pay more attention to average video views and engagement rate than follower count. A creator with 50k followers and 500k average views is often a better partner than one with 500k followers and 50k average views.

Tracking TikTok posts

Automatic post detection

When a creator in your list publishes a new TikTok video, Stormy detects it during regular sync cycles and checks if it matches your campaign (by hashtag, mention, or content theme). Matching posts are automatically linked to the campaign.

Manual post tracking

Add specific TikTok posts to track:

  1. Open the creator's profile in your list
  2. Navigate to the Posts tab
  3. Click Add Post and paste the TikTok video URL
  4. Stormy fetches the video data and begins tracking performance

Metrics available

Metric Description
Views Total number of times the video was played
Likes Total likes (hearts) on the video
Comments Total comments
Shares Times users shared the video
Saves Times users bookmarked the video
Average watch time How long users watched before scrolling
Completion rate Percentage of viewers who watched the full video
Audience source Where views came from (For You page, Following feed, profile, search)

Understanding TikTok metrics

TikTok videos can continue gaining views for days or even weeks after posting, unlike Instagram posts which peak within 24-48 hours. Stormy tracks TikTok posts for an extended period to capture this long-tail performance.

Note

TikTok's API provides some metrics with a delay. View counts update quickly, but detailed analytics (audience source, watch time) may take 24-48 hours to become available. Stormy refreshes these metrics automatically as they become available.

Performance benchmarks

General benchmarks for evaluating TikTok creator posts:

Metric Below average Average Strong
Views (relative to followers) Under 10% 10-50% Over 50%
Engagement rate (likes + comments / views) Under 3% 3-8% Over 8%
Share rate (shares / views) Under 0.5% 0.5-2% Over 2%
Completion rate Under 30% 30-60% Over 60%
Tip

Share rate is TikTok's most valuable engagement metric. When someone shares a TikTok video, they are essentially endorsing your content to their network. High share rates correlate strongly with organic reach expansion.

Creator profile data

The TikTok integration enriches creator profiles with:

  • Follower count -- current total followers
  • Following count -- how many accounts they follow
  • Total likes -- lifetime likes received across all videos
  • Video count -- total number of public videos
  • Average views -- typical view count across recent videos
  • Posting frequency -- how often they post new content
  • Content categories -- AI-determined themes based on recent content
  • Bio and profile link -- their TikTok bio text and any linked website

This data appears as columns in your Lists and is updated during regular sync cycles.

TikTok-specific campaign considerations

Content format

TikTok is exclusively short-form vertical video (9:16). When working with TikTok creators, your campaign brief should specify:

  • Video length preference (15 seconds, 30 seconds, or 60 seconds)
  • Whether the creator should use trending sounds or original audio
  • Hashtag requirements (campaign hashtags, branded hashtags)
  • Call-to-action (link in bio, comment section, TikTok Shop)

Spark Ads synergy

If a creator's organic TikTok post performs well, you can amplify it with a Spark Ad directly through Stormy's TikTok Ads integration. This creates a powerful workflow:

  1. Creator posts organic content
  2. Stormy tracks performance in real-time
  3. When a post exceeds your engagement threshold, boost it with paid spend
  4. The paid campaign runs through the same Stormy dashboard

TikTok Shop integration

For e-commerce campaigns, TikTok creators can tag products from your TikTok Shop directly in their videos. While Stormy does not manage TikTok Shop directly, you can track whether tagged product videos drive more engagement and correlate this with sales data from your Shopify integration.

Troubleshooting

Check that the TikTok integration is connected and active in Settings > Integrations. Also ensure your search query is not too narrow -- TikTok's creator database may have different coverage than Instagram.

Metrics not updating

TikTok's API can have delays, especially for newer or smaller creator accounts. If metrics seem frozen, wait 24 hours and check again. Very new videos (posted within the last hour) may not show metrics yet.

Connection issues

TikTok's API authorization can be sensitive to browser state. If you have trouble connecting, try in an incognito/private browser window. If the connection drops, go to Settings > Integrations > TikTok and click Reconnect.

Warning

TikTok's API access policies change periodically. If the integration stops working after an extended period, it may require re-authorization with updated permissions. Stormy will display a notification if this happens.
