Originally from Memphis, TN, Bernell Jones II is an NYC-based multi-instrumentalist experienced in multiple forms of Black American Music. At age ten, Bernell first picked up the saxophone. This was a huge turning point in his life. However, his musical journey began at age six when he began playing piano. Although he doesn’t consider himself a professional pianist, it definitely aided him in enhancing is compositional skills and his understanding of music. His compositions showcase a variety of musical influences from his upbringing such as gospel, jazz, blues, r&b, etc. Bernell credits his style of playing to his teachers and mentors Greg Tardy and Vincent Herring.

The main story: Maya and Aladino fell in love, finished restoring Magic Carpet, and are now sailing on her and documenting the journey. Maya's back story: Before Maya met Aladino, she owned a sailboat in Canada which she got for $1. We have a mini series on this channel all about that. Aladino's back story: Before Aladino met Maya, he bought a shipwreck that had fallen 20 feet off a crane onto concrete. He then fixed that boat up, and it is now Magic Carpet. We have a mini series on this channel about what Aladino learned during that restoration.

Sisters Leah and Chloe Smith founded Rising Appalachia on their back porch in Georgia, playing simple fiddle and banjo melodies and leaning into their families rich musical traditions. It has since become a globally recognized Americana and world folk ensemble, celebrating a unique blend of Southern-rooted music. The band features David Brown, Duncan Wickel, and Biko Casini, and infuses a unique tapestry of sounds.
