When an attachment on a Crown SC 6200 does not match the information on the capacity plate, the plate may be wrong. Do not operate the truck and notify your supervisor.

On a Crown SC 6200 Series electric counterbalance forklift, the capacity plate located on the overhead guard lists the truck serial number, capacity ratings (load, load center, and lift height), truck type fire safety rating, truck weight less load with maximum battery and attachments, and attachment information if any. Under Crown manual 600094-000 Rev. D (page 17), if an attachment on the truck does not match the information given on the capacity plate, the operator must not operate the truck and must notify their supervisor because the capacity plate may be wrong. In addition, 29 CFR 1910.178(a)(4) and (a)(5) require that modifications affecting capacity have prior written manufacturer approval and that capacity plates and markings identify attachments and combination weight.
Inspect the attachment installed on the Crown SC 6200 and read the attachment data section on the capacity plate mounted on the overhead guard.
Check whether the attachment on the truck does not match the information given on the capacity plate. If there is a discrepancy or omitted attachment data, the capacity plate may be wrong.
Do not operate the truck if an attachment does not match the information given on your capacity plate. Lower the forks or attachment completely to the floor, neutralize the controls, turn the key to OFF, and set the brake.
Notify your supervisor immediately that the attachment does not match the capacity plate. Modifications affecting capacity require manufacturer prior written approval and updated capacity plates, tags, or decals identifying the attachment and combination weight.

The Crown SC 6200 operator manual specifies that the capacity plate is located on the overhead guard. The plate contains the truck serial number, capacity information (load, load center, and lift height), truck type fire safety rating, truck weight less load with maximum battery and attachments (+/- 5%), and attachment information if any.
Capacities shown on the capacity plate are with the mast vertical and load centered. Under Crown manual 600094-000 Rev. D (page 17), if an attachment on your truck does not match the information given on your capacity plate, don't operate your truck. Your capacity plate may be wrong. Notify your supervisor.
Federal OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.178 sets mandatory requirements for powered industrial truck modifications and front-end attachments. Under 1910.178(a)(4), modifications and additions which affect capacity and safe operation shall not be performed by the customer or user without manufacturer's prior written approval. Capacity, operation, and maintenance instruction plates, tags, or decals shall be changed accordingly.
Under 29 CFR 1910.178(a)(5), if the truck is equipped with front-end attachments other than factory installed attachments, the user shall request that the truck be marked to identify the attachments and show the approximate weight of the truck and attachment combination at maximum elevation with load laterally centered. Under 1910.178(a)(6), the user shall see that all nameplates and markings are in place and are maintained in a legible condition.
When an attachment does not match the capacity plate, the truck must be removed from operation. Under 29 CFR 1910.178(q)(1), any power-operated industrial truck not in safe operating condition shall be removed from service, and all repairs shall be made by authorized personnel.
The operator must report the mismatch to their supervisor. The truck remains out of service until the employer secures written approval from the manufacturer and ensures that the truck bears updated capacity plates and markings that identify the attachment and state the approved capacity.
Applies to Crown SC 6200 Series electric sit-down counterbalance forklift trucks and their installed front-end attachments. Does not apply to other Crown forklift series or unpowered material handling equipment.
